How to live longer and better

There are more and more people living to 100 ever than before. But are those people living at 100% during those years or are they living less quality lives once they hit 60, 70, 80 or 90+ years?

This should make you think about how you want to age and things you can do to maintain brain health and mobility. Chiropractic is a way to improve both. Studies show that chiropractic enhances the brain and body connection be keeping the communication pathways clear of interference. Also, a healthy spine leads to better mental well being and enables people to move and perform daily activities with ease.

As we age, our goal should be able to do everything we enjoy in life. Mobility and brain function are big concerns as we age. Research states that the majority of those over age 70 are now affected with arthritis and some level of dementia. Most are suffering from neck and back pain. Joints stiffen up. People are often complaining of stiff knees, low backs and by the time they hit their mid 50s they have have knee or joint replacements and even spinal surgeries.

Over the past years, I have been reading articles about the ‘100 Year Lifestyle’ (website link below). Even Netflix has a series called ‘Live to 100, Secrets of the Blue Zones’. Throughout this documentary, the host explores the reasons why certain communities around the world have a higher amount of centenarians, or person 100 years of age or more.

Some of the major secrets of these communities where longevity is common is activity, diet, relationships, happiness levels, stress levels and sense of purpose and belonging in life.

On the physical level, movement is key to longevity. In the Blue Zones, people are active daily. They are walking up hills, gardening, squatting to enjoy meals and making pasta with friends. Movement keeps the bones and muscles strong, plus it stimulates and maintains coordination and vital neural circuits in the brain. Read more about the habits of these centenarians on the links below and please watch the Netflix series to gain insight on how you can live a longer, more fulfilling life.

In the meantime, consider things you can do to enhance movement, coordination, and brain health. Visit a chiropractor to keep your spine healthy. Chiropractic adjustments are essential to anyone that sits for more than 4 hours per day, or to anyone who spends hours on the phone or computer each day.

Chiropractic care has been helping people enjoy more life and movement since 1895. Discover the key to better health, less back pain, less neck pain and better mental well being. Through chiropractic adjustments, nerve stress is reduced allowing more vital nerve information to flow from your brain to your body and from your body to your brain. Visit your Frederick chiropractor at Dancinspine Chiropractic in downtown Frederick, MD to learn how you can naturally reduce back and spine stress.
